We were excited to join the closing event of the CircularRegions Project with keynote speaker Vojtech Vosecky from Circle Economy. Vojtech gave an inspiring speech about the current state of circular economy and what needs to be done to close the Circularity and Emissions Gaps. Vojtech also introduced the new Circularity Gap Report which states that we only cycle 8.6% of what we use, which leaves a massive Circularity Gap of over 90%.
The report provides a roadmap of 21 circular solutions, businesses, cities and nations can reduce resource extraction and use by 28%, therefore cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 39% and getting the world on a 1.5-degree pathway and meet the goals of the Pari Agreement.
The webinar continued with great presentations from Denisa Rasova and Andrej Spanik from Slovak Business Agency, Bence Janek from IFKA, Martina Velika from INCIEN, and Irén Márta and Ivett Takács from BCSDH.
The presentations were followed by panel discussions of the invited experts moderated by Bálint Horváth Dr from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Hungary and Slovakia.
The webinar ended with summarizing the CircularRegions Project and its main findings. The aim of the CircularRegions project was to develop an advisory service to foster the transition to a circular economy for small and medium-sized enterprises, to train consultants and to establish cooperation between organizations that are members of the circular economy platforms in Hungary and Slovakia, thus accelerating the transition to a circular economy in cross-border regions.
